Players and potential Referees in Australia whet
their appetite for punishment by attending a Rules Accredited Player (RAP)
course as part of their player involvement with their associated Pennant
/ Fixtures obligations.
The RAP and subsequent Training Material has been
developed by members of the Advisory Committee of Squash Australia and
is sanctioned by the Australian Sports Commission.
It is a requirement of the Victorian Department
of Justice that all Referees who provide services or conduct activities
for, or directed at children obtain a Working With Children Check.
Application Forms are available from your local Post Office and is
free of charge as you are a Volunteer.

The Development of this Training Material has resulted
in Australian Squash Referees being recognised at their respective Levels
of Competency by the National Officiating Accreditation Scheme (NOAS).
A Player who has taken the first
step to understanding the Rules of Squash. A Rules Accredited
Player.
Club
This is a basic level to encourage new referees.
Complete the Australian Sports Commissions Officiating General Principles - Introduction.
Qualification can be obtained on the candidate's own level of
play.
Once a candidate has achieved Club Level qualification, it is up
to State Refereeing Associations to allocate the candidate progressively
harder matches to both improve and assess that candidate's capability.
State
Complete the Australian Sports Commissions Officiating General Principles - Introduction.
Qualification can be obtained on the top level of pennant
immediately below State grade.
It is not a requirement that a candidate must hold Club Level Qualification
before commencing assessment for State Level Accreditation. If a candidate's
playing level is State grade, it is appropriate for the candidate
to be assessed for a State Level qualification immediately.
National
Complete the Australian Sports Commissions Officiating General Principles - Advanced.
Must be submitted through referee's State Refereeing Association
to the National Refereeing Manager (NRM).
May be submitted at any time.
Must be accompanied by the State Refereeing Association's recommendation
and assessment forms.
National Assessment Panel members will send a recommendation
and their assessment forms to the NRM.
If the NRM is sure that the referee has satisfied all the requirements;
the State Refereeing Association has given its approval; and the
assessments are favourable, the NRM shall notify the referee and
the State Refereeing Association. The NRM shall also send a National
Badge to the State Refereeing Association to be presented to the
referee.
Any nomination received and considered successful after 30 September
each year will be considered current until 31 December of the
following year.
Regional (Oceania)
Complete the Australian Sports Commissions Officiating General Principles - Advanced.
Must be submitted through referee's State Refereeing Association

A National Level Referee who is accepted by
the World Squash Federation to possess the necessary judgement and
technical competence to referee matches invovling the top International
Players.

to be an expert exponent of match control and understanding of on-court
player strategy.
