Victoria has three National Assessors (Harvey Bowlt and Damien Green are accredited at the International Level and Bill Patterson at the National Level) who are responsible for the training and guidance of Referees within the State.

We also have a number of other senior Referees, in Victoria, accredited at National, Regional (Oceania), and International Level as at 18/11/2008 :-

Geoff ArgaetGeoff Argaet
resides in Melbourne and is the current owner of the Knox Bayswater Squash & Racquetball Centre. An active player since 1973, Geoff has been an accredited Referee since the mid 1980's and a National Referee since 1995. Having served on the V.S.R.R.A. Committee since 1986, Geoff was awarded a Life Membership in 2000 and in 2004 was a Victorian Government Official of the year. He is actively involved in refereeing at all levels, including lecturing and assessment.

Harvey BowltHarvey Bowlt
Harvey arrived in Australia in January 2004 from Cape Town, South Africa where he was actively involved in the refereeing scene as a referee, assessor and Chairman of the South African Squash Referees Association from 1994 to 1998. He started refereeing at provincial (state) level in South Africa in the mid 1980’s and at international level in 1993. Since then he has officiated at several Mens and Womens World Opens and World team Championships, the only World Cup, the 1998 Commonwealth Games and various PSA events, as well as remaining active in domestic tournaments. He was appointed a WSF International refeee in 2000. Harvey has already been involved in many tournaments in Australia including the 2006 Commonwealth Games. He initially moved with his family to Albury and in 2006 moved to Melbourne. He is a solicitor when not having fun refereeing and plays (B2) for the Mulgrave Country Club. In February 2007, Harvey was recognised as a National Assessor to assist Bill and Damien in Victoria.

Neil ButlerNeil Butler
resides in Perth, is a Life Member of WA Squash and has been a member of the WA Squash Referees Committee since 1979. Neil is currently a National Level Referee but was an International Referee from 1990 until 1999. Neil has officiated at many Australian Open and WA Open Championships since 1980 and at the World Womens Open in Sydney in 1990 and World Mens Teams Event in Kuala Lumpur in 1997. Awarded the Australian Medal for Services to Squash.

Damien GreenDamien Green
Damien is a resident of Melbourne, Victoria and is an active member of Hunts Squash Club in Fitzroy. He began his playing career at the age of twelve in 1982 at Coburg Squash Club where he remained until its closure in 1998. He is currently a member of the Hunts Premier Grade pennant team. He became a referee in late 1995 mainly as a means of staying involved with the sport at a high level, and has since attained a National Level accreditation. He joined the VSRRA committee in 1996 and at the end of 1998 took on the role of Treasurer. He is also one of the VSRRA's Rules lecturers. His refereeing experience includes a number of Australian Opens (1996 - 2001), Australian Junior Championships (1998 & 2002), the World Open in 2001 and the World Masters Squash Championships in 2002. He has officiated at many pennant competitions around Melbourne including Premier League finals and many Victorian Satellite Tournaments. At the 2003 National Referees AGM, Damien was promoted to the role of National Assessor to assist Bill Patterson, the other National Assessor in Victoria.

Karim LangerKarim Langer
resides in Melbourne and has been an active player since the age of 18. Karim is currently playing VMSA Grade 1 for Knox Park but has also played for Moorabbin. He is also on the committee of the VSRRA and enjoys officiating at all levels of competition play from the aspiring Juniors to the best in the World. Karim was selected to officiate at the 2006 Commonwealth Games and to date has refereed in Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific Games in Samoa. Karim achieved his National accreditation in July 2007 at the Australian Open in Clare, South Australia.

Steve MurraySteve Murray
Steve Murray has been a National Squash Referee since January 1998 and has had extensive International Refereeing experience during that time. He travels to Hong Kong each year at his own expense, to referee in the prestigious Cathay Pacific Squash Open, in order to not only improve his own standard, but to watch how the highest ranked referees in the world perform, against the cream of the world ranked players. Currently, Steve has refereed all of the top 25 world ranked men and all of the top 35 world ranked women. In 2006, Steve was a Victorian Government Official of the year and was made a Life Member of the VSRRA. Steve plays pennant squash twice a week and lectures in the rules of squash on behalf of the VSRRA. He invites any questions.

Bill PattersonBill Patterson
resides in Melbourne and played competitive Squash from the early 1960's until 2000. Bill was Runner-Up in his Club Championships in 1979, 1981 and 1982 and actual Club Champion of the Frankston Squash Club in 1980 and 1983. Bill became a Squash Referee in 1975 and achieved his National Badge in 1990 when he refereed at his first World Women's Tournament in Sydney. Bill has been an active referee at most of Victoria's major Tournaments and has travelled interstate for many National events. He became a National Assessor in 1999 and has assisted many referees in Victoria. In 2000 he received an Australian Sports medal, in 2001 he was made a Life Member of the VSRRA and in 2003 was a Victorian Government Official of the Year. In 2005, Bill was recognised by Squash Australia as the Referee of the year.
